‘The Voices of the People’ is a series consisted by three works that were developed at the same period in South Korea, 2013. The three works can be displayed together, in a video-installation format, or each video separately in a single screening.
From March to July, when the armistice agreement between South and North Korea was canceled, I researched the sociopolitical condition through discussions, interviews, workshops and performances. The first research was realized on the northern part of South Korea, Baengnyeong Island, and the second on its capital, Seoul. Both projects were worked in the context of ‘center-periphery’ in order to juxtapose people’s common concerns experienced from different viewpoints. The third project is an interview that links the past, the present and the future of Korea in a narration.
